Digital Identification Solutions launches new Credential Scanning Module at CeBIT 2009 in Hanover–can be now also combined with the LCP 9000 Laser Color Personalization System

Stuttgart, Germany, February 25, 2009 – Digital Identification Solutions AG, a worldwide leader of identification solutions, presents at CeBIT Exhibition in Hanover, Germany, the new EDIsecure® CSM 2 Credential Scanning Module.

At booth no. B25, Hall 11, the German-based Digital Identification Solutions Group presents a brand new credential scanning module for government and card-service bureau applications. The EDIsecure® CSM 2 allows the scanning of ID cards with optional OCR recognition as well as the reading of barcodes on pre-printed cards. Barcode reading accepts all kinds of barcodes.

An individual positioned and preprinted barcode, text or number on an ID card can be scanned and assigned to a database record prior to the card personalization. It is ideal for government applications such as National IDs, driving licenses and secure corporate applications. The EDIsecure® CSM 2 allows control of card stock and the assignment of the issued credential to the card holder. Thanks to its flexible design, the unit can scan the full size of the card either on the front-side or the back-side, therefore making it the ideal product also for card service providers. Due to its robust housing and ample space, even contactless encoder modules (e.g.: Mifare, DESFire, Legic, HID, etc.) can be optionally built in.

The new scanning module is designed for the use with the EDIsecure® Professional Line Retransfer Printers XID 590ie and XID 9330; therefore it also can be used within the new and unique LCP 9000 Laser Color Personalization System. It can be also easily upgraded later on to any of these installed printers, since there is no technical modification inside the printer necessary.

As already expected, the launch of the EDIsecure® LCP 9000 Laser Color Personalization System at the Cartes Exhibition in Paris last November, had been a great success. However, the market reaction had been overwhelming and did exceed everything what the product managers of the Digital Identification Solutions Group had ever envisioned. Subsequently this revolutionary system will be on live demo again during CeBIT, Hanover, and will be already shown in a close to final production version.

The EDIsecure® LCP 9000 Laser Color Personalization System integrates the advantages of high quality XID retransfer color printing and secure laser engraving on a single card in a one step process, making credential forgery and manipulation all but impossible. With its innovative system concept, the LCP 9000 allows the combination of an unrivaled variety of security features, such as on-demand personalization of data as micro text, CLI (Changeable Laser Image) and MLI (Multiple Laser Image), tactile effects, high resolution gradient UV printing, electronic guilloche, and IPI (Invisible Personal Information).

The XID 9330 Retransfer Printer features over-the-edge full color printing for either single or double sided cards with outstanding image quality. The LEU 9000 Laser Engraver Unit allows inline laser personalization of personal data and images also on either card side penetrating the card body, therefore adding additional levels of security. Different encoding options such as magnetic stripe encoding, as well as contact or contactless chip technology can be utilized. To maximize card security and durability, the system can even be combined with inline lamination modules for front and / or back side lamination using EDIsecure® clear and secure laminates.

The EDIsecure® LCP 9000 Laser Color Personalization System is available as a modular system of individual components which can be configured and combined exactly according to the customer’s needs. The Laser Engraver Unit is also available as a standalone system – EDIsecure® LES 9000 – for black & white laser engraving. In this configuration the laser engraver is the fastest desktop device in the world and can even compete with “mainframe type” systems.
